Applied Business Statistics 5 credits

Course content

This course introduces you to fundamental statistical methods and their practical application in business and economics. You will develop a foundation in quantitative analysis and data interpretation, learning how to approach business problems using statistical reasoning. Working with real-world data, you will learn when and how to apply statistical tools, understand their limitations, and draw evidence-based conclusions. Through a combination of lectures and hands-on sessions, you will learn to evaluate data, select appropriate methods, and interpret statistical results. Group-based exercises will help you practise collaboration and communication while highlighting the importance of data-driven decision-making in both business and economic contexts. The course supports the programme’s learning goals by strengthening your quantitative and analytical skills and preparing you to make informed, responsible decisions. It also develops basic research abilities and encourages critical reflection on how data is analysed, interpreted, and used in business and society.
