Programme Outlines and Overviews
Supply Chain Management 5 credits
Course content
Supply chains have become increasingly globalised and complex in recent years. In many industries, supply chains are restructured for various reasons, such as sustainability, resilience, risk management, or changes in market conditions and competitive advantage. Due to these changes, you must align multi-stakeholder goals and strategies in highly internationalised business environments to provide high-quality customer service across different markets.
During the course, you will explore key concepts, functions, and processes within and across supply chains, encompassing sourcing, production, distribution, and retailing. You will examine the strategic role of logistics management in creating and sustaining competitive advantages and learn how supply chain design can help firms secure orders in international markets. You will adopt a cross-functional perspective on planning, control, and decision-making, and analyse how demand and supply are balanced from both marketing and logistics viewpoints. You will also investigate sustainable and circular supply chains, considering the challenges and opportunities they present for both local and international businesses.
Upon successfully completing the course, you will be able to map and analyse supply chains, identify challenges, and evaluate alternative solutions in international contexts. You will understand how to align supply chain strategies with competitive priorities and stakeholder expectations, as well as how to manage trade-offs among efficiency, responsiveness, resilience, and sustainability. You will be better prepared to participate in decision-making processes involving multiple stakeholders and complex business environments.
