Econometrics 10 credits

Course content

This course provides you with foundational skills for quantitative analysis. You will learn to critically assess empirical research and perform basic econometric analyses using real-world data. The course develops a solid understanding of regression models as the main tools for empirical analysis, combining theoretical foundations with a strong emphasis on practical application and interpretation. You will learn how to specify, estimate, and evaluate regression models, and how to diagnose and correct issues that may compromise the robustness of your findings. The course also emphasises the distinction between correlation and causation, and discusses how econometric methods can help identify cause-and-effect relationships under appropriate assumptions. Through hands-on exercises using statistical software, you will connect theory with practice and develop the skills to analyse and interpret data. After completing the course, you will be able to build, interpret and evaluate regression models, obtain a clear comprehension of empirical results, and apply quantitative methods to real-world problems.
