Programme Outlines and Overviews

Applied International Strategy 5 credits

Course content

This course deepens your understanding of strategy and international management, highlighting the interconnectedness of theory and practice. It is designed as a capstone course that consolidates your earlier learning in these areas and contributes to the programme’s overall learning goals. You will work through two interdependent parts that run in parallel. In the strategy and international management research section, you will familiarise yourself with key contributions in these fields by reading and discussing academic articles. In the course project part, you further deepen your knowledge in a sub-topic of your choice in the areas of international management and strategy. This is done by writing a project report based on a real-life case, for example, managerial challenges within a company, an entrepreneur, or an industry. After completing the course, you will be able to use research-based literature to analyse international strategy and management cases, clearly link that literature to the managerial challenges you identify, and develop relevant suggestions for how those challenges can be addressed. You will be able to distinguish the practical relevance of research-based questions.
