## About the programme: As an orthotist, you play a vital role in helping people regain their independence after disabilities such as paralysis, amputation, or deformity. There is a great need for orthopedic engineers, and you will quickly be in demand in the job market. The programme combines theory and practice. You will learn to: - Design and manufacture devices that replace lost body parts or support weak structures. - Work closely with clients and other rehabilitation professionals, such as physiotherapists, doctors, and occupational therapists. - Develop solutions that directly improve people's lives and futures. In our on-campus orthopedic clinic, you'll gain invaluable hands-on experience working with real clients and their unique needs. This is an internationally recognised programme in a dynamic, intercultural environment, where you will develop both professionally and personally. ## Your future career As a qualified orthopedic engineer, you can work in orthopedic clinics, life sciences, and biomechanics, health and sport, or with developing medical devices. Do you want to keep developing? You can go further by taking the master’s programme Mastech and specialise in assistive technology or continuing with research studies. The Prosthetics and Orthotics Bachelor programme has been[ accredited by the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) at the Prosthetist/Orthotist level.](<https://ju.se/en/about-us/contact-and-press/press/news/news-archive/2022-04-14-the-prosthetics-and-orthotics-bachelor-programme-receives-recognised-international-accreditation.html>) The accreditation is an international recognition of the quality, scope and organisation of the programme. Students will benefit from the accreditation whereas graduates of the programme can apply to ISPO for an individual ISPO recognition certificate. The certificate facilitates recruitment for work abroad.
