Fredrika Askenmalm

Assistant Professor, Business Administration

Fredrika holds a Licentiate in Business Administration, for which she wrote her thesis on Participation and influence regarding accounting regulations for smaller companies. She later earned her PhD with the dissertation How milk in the tank becomes kronor at the bank – The rationality of bondförnuftet, exploring the logics and decision-making processes of rural enterprises in connection to accounting. Since joining Jönköping International Business School in 2001, she has combined academic research with teaching and engagement in regional development.

Research Area
Fredrika’s research focuses on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly those in rural contexts. Her work examines accounting regulation, ownership structures, and certification systems, emphasizing how these influence and shape the operations of smaller firms.
